CREATE A 2-MIN PROOF OF CONCEPT FOR THE FILM “BOOTLEG” THAT TAKES NOSTALGIC ELEMENTS OF THE NYC SUMMER MIXED WITH THE RIGID NATURE OF IMMIGRANT STRUGGLES FOR SURVIVAL IN POVERTY.

THE POC WILL have a gritty, western style that uses warm hues, wide horizons, and aligns with late 90s-early 2000s films like “She’s gotta have it” (1986), ”Raising victor vargas” (2002), and “Do the right thing”(1989).

The lighting will be high-contrast, naturalistic, with rich colors that aren’t overly saturated. the shooting style will utilize the genre of westerns, subjective, deep focus, post impressionistic imagery. Making the camera feel like we’re right on the block with our protagonist, Ismaila.

Films like “She’s gotta have it” (1986), “Raising Victor Vargas (2002)”, “Do the right thing (1989)” serve as reference for the high contrast sunny warm toned lighting, rich colors, and western shooting style.
Natural light was manipulated to maintain contrasts and prevent overexposure of the skin. Natural sun was used as our backlight, then a mirror board was used to create a glowy, almost sweaty appearance on the subject’s skin.
Emphasis on maintaining rich bold colors, grain, and the stylized 90s Brooklyn look.
